invested in our own hosting business to support these services (OAHosting).
We maintain a strong commitment to our hosting business. We recognize
that the hosting environment is the production environment for the services and
applications that we design, develop and support. The hosting of these
web applications allows us to offer cost effective and competitive bids to our
customers/partners. The hosting also allows us to tailor the production
execution environment to meet our performance, reliability and security
expectations (see our hosting equipment and
facilities for more information). This page addresses the 'why'
question on providing hosting services (some advantages and benefits that
impact our customers/partners).

Why we offer hosting as part of our web application solution development...

Cost Efficiencies - There is usually a large investment required to
bring an application "online". These investment costs include
computer hardware, internet bandwidth, backup power, perimeter firewalls, virus
protection remedies/prevention, operating systems, databases, application
frameworks, web servers, 3rd party controls, internal relay mail, etc. (did we
mention redundancy for nearly all these things?). With a hosting
environment, we can offer our customers/partners the opportunity to leverage
our investment in these technologies. This would include items like
software licensing, bandwidth procurement, server resources, redundancy and
failure planning, etc. We don't want to impose the need for an IT
department (hardware, people, software, etc.) on our clients for our web
application solutions. Our customers/partners welcome these cost savings
as it helps to ensure a much quicker return on investment. Our hosting
arrangements typically offer a significant reduction on cash flow and capital
expenditures for bringing an application "online". Our goal is
to try and offer turnkey internet based solutions which can be configured to
work financially for our customers/partners.

Support/Maintenance Benefits - Our goal is to offer our
customers/partners web application solutions without the need for them to hire
and train application (or network) support staff. Hosting these solutions
puts us in a position to better support and administer those applications which
were designed and developed by our staff. We understand the relationships
between the various services and we can tailor our support to match those
service relationships.

Autonomy & Focus - We appreciate the latitude we have to be able to
configure and scale our web application solutions specifically to match our
customers/partners growth expectations. We feel that outsourcing this
function to another party might inhibit our flexibility in optimizing our
services. Our hosting service model is setup to predominantly host web
application solutions. Our hosting business is configured for high end
application hosting (versus simple website 'brochure' presences). Our
staff can focus on the web application solution model and not be distracted
with support for hundreds of simple static 'brochure' type sites. We
focus on the high end business web application solutions. We want to
ensure quality support for these dynamic web application solutions. By
focusing on this hosting segment we can keep our costs down AND increase our
focus on mission critical web application solutions.

Accountability - Our biggest asset is our customer/partner
relationships. By offering a hosting service for these web application
solutions we can better guarantee end-to-end accountability for application
performance, security, etc.

Data Ownership/Confidentiality - We create contractual relationships
with our customers/partners concerning ownership of both the application
software and the business data. We are very sensitive to the needs of our
customers/partners concerning access to their data and the protection and
security of that data. Our hosting service provides for backups and
disaster recovery procedures which match the needs of our web application
solution profiles AND our customers preferences. We recognize that
customer/partner data belongs to our customers/partners. We strictly
honor our contractual confidentiality and backup/recovery agreements.
